I feel more present and connected with my children now that we are together 24/7. And then I got surprised with this beautiful image by @sproetjeshuis. When I was pregnant with my first baby decorating

When I was pregnant with my first baby decorating the nursery felt like such an essential part of the arrival of my baby. ⠀⠀
All of a sudden that little space became the most important room of the house. I knew I would spend hours and hours in there. As I couldn’t find an artwork that stole my heart, so I decided to make it myself. ⠀⠀
My son is almost 5 now and my babygirl isn’t a baby anymore, she is about to turn 3. But I’ve made it my mission to support moms in making the most magicaI spaces and I truly enjoy making these personalised artworks. ⠀⠀

Sometimes we are touched in ways and by things that seem small and meaningless at the moment but afterswards they prove to be great blessings. ⠀⠀

When I gratuated from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, I was struggling to find a job as an aspiring fashion stylist. I’d been working in a high-end shoe store for over half a year and I had send out my portfolio to a dozen of fashion magazines. Manon was the first to respond and invited me to the editor’s office. She gave me my first styling assignment. ⠀⠀
She said: I wish this for you, you deserve it. Not only did I not expect to be granted a freelance job, but the kindness in which she did was such an inspirational moment.

Over the years I had lost track of Manon and a few years ago I looked her up online only to find out that she and her husband had moved to Kenya to adopt a young boy called Micah. She wrote about the extremely challenging adoption proces for a magazine and I was just blown away with all that she and her husband had gone through to be togheter with their son. ⠀⠀
It moved me to tears as I had just become a mother myself. The way she wrote about the calling of her mother’s heart was one of the most beautiful things I had ever read. And it was just what I needed in that moment.
