This illustration was created with the thought that some bonds are older than words. Older than names. Felt rather than explained.
In the stillness of an enchanted woodland, two girls stand close together beneath the full moon. Their braided hair brushes softly as they lean in, as if listening — or remembering. Antlers rise gently from their heads, traced with silvery cobwebs that catch the night light. Above them, bats move quietly through the sky, part of the same rhythm, not intruders but witnesses.
You may recognise this feeling. The sense of belonging that does not need to be spoken aloud. Of shared knowing, of kinship, of standing side by side in something that feels both familiar and ancient. This artwork grew from a wish to honour those quiet connections — the ones that feel carried forward through time.
With its muted tones and hushed atmosphere, this print brings a sense of depth and stillness into a home. It finds its place wherever old stories, quiet strength, and gentle mystery are welcome.
Let it be a reminder that some stories are felt more than they are told.

I’m Iris Esther, an illustrator and mother of two, creating illustrated art, art prints, postcards, and small paper goods from my forest-side home studio. With a green birdhouse in the first tree outside my window, I work guided by nature, fairytales, changing seasons and by a deep love for making art by hand.
Growing up, being outside wasn’t a destination but a way of living. My art grew from that same gentle rhythm.
My illustrations are made to quietly support everyday life — bringing a sense of enchantment to family celebrations, seasonal rituals, and small moments that matter.
