Winter Solstice – Illustrated Yule Winter Postcard

Product description

Created in celebration of the Winter Solstice, this illustration is about that small but wonderful turning point in the year: the darkest days have arrived, and from here, ever so slowly, the light begins to return.

In a snowy winter landscape, a little gathering of mice has come together beneath a glowing golden paper sun. Carrying tiny stars and winter decorations, they seem to be holding their own quiet midwinter celebration — a reminder that even in the deepest part of winter, the promise of brighter days is already there.

I love the old traditions surrounding the changing seasons and the small rituals like creating paper stars that help us notice where we are in the year. The Winter Solstice feels especially magical: a moment to slow down, light a candle, gather together and welcome the returning light.

A meaningful postcard for a Winter Solstice or Yule celebration, a seasonal table or nature corner, or simply to send a little light to someone during the darkest days of winter.

MEET ME

IRIS ESTHER

I’m Iris Esther, an illustrator and mother of two, creating illustrated art, art prints, postcards, and small paper goods from my forest-side home studio. With a green birdhouse in the first tree outside my window, I work guided by nature, fairy tales, changing seasons and by a deep love for making art by hand.

Growing up, being outside wasn’t a destination but a way of living. My art grew from that same gentle rhythm.

My illustrations are made to quietly support everyday life — bringing a sense of enchantment to family celebrations, seasonal rituals, and small moments that matter.
