Deep in a snow-dusted woodland, a small gnome girl settles onto a branch with her dearest friend, a young owl. Wrapped in stillness and frost, they open a fairytale together — the kind that feels warmer for being read aloud in the cold. Snow rests softly around them, the forest listens, and time seems happy to wait.
This illustration was created for winter days that invite you to slow down, to come closer, and to stay a little longer.
Winter’s Tale is an illustration made from a love of winter’s gentler magic — the coziness that blooms when the world grows quiet, and the comfort found in shared stories. Each brushstroke was guided by the wish to hold onto that feeling: of friendship, warmth, and the simple joy of being together while the season rests outside.
This piece is for you if winter feels like an invitation rather than a challenge. If you cherish books, soft silence, and moments that do not need to be hurried. It belongs in places where comfort matters — a reading nook, a child’s room, or a corner where the cold is met with kindness.
Let Winter’s Tale remind you that even in the frostiest days, there is warmth in closeness,
and magic waiting quietly between the pages.

I’m Iris Esther, an illustrator and mother of two, creating illustrated art, art prints, postcards, and small paper goods from my forest-side home studio. With a green birdhouse in the first tree outside my window, I work guided by nature, fairytales, changing seasons and by a deep love for making art by hand.
Growing up, being outside wasn’t a destination but a way of living. My art grew from that same gentle rhythm.
My illustrations are made to quietly support everyday life — bringing a sense of enchantment to family celebrations, seasonal rituals, and small moments that matter.
