Product description

Sintermuis – Postcard

Sinterklaas belongs to small shoes by the fireplace. To candlelight. To the quiet excitement of something that might happen while you sleep.

In this illustration, it is the mice who carry the spirit of the evening — climbing tiny ladders, filling a waiting shoe, scattering pepernoten with more enthusiasm than precision. Not grand. Not perfect. Just warm and joyful.

I drew “Sintermuis” back in 2023 as a gentle reminder that the heart of Sinterklaas lives in generosity and play. In the simple delight of giving and receiving. In laughter shared across generations — for children small and tall. This postcard brings the celebration back to what matters most: warmth, imagination, and the feeling that everyone may take part.

A cosy piece for early December, seasonal tables, or to send as a small gesture of kindness during the Sinterklaas season.

IRIS ESTHER

I’m Iris Esther, an illustrator and mother of two, creating illustrated art, art prints, postcards, and small paper goods from my forest-side home studio. With a green birdhouse in the first tree outside my window, I work guided by nature, fairytales, changing seasons and by a deep love for making art by hand.

Growing up, being outside wasn’t a destination but a way of living. My art grew from that same gentle rhythm.

My illustrations are made to quietly support everyday life — bringing a sense of enchantment to family celebrations, seasonal rituals, and small moments that matter.
