Surprise Egg – A Springtime Postcard
In a mossy clearing beneath the budding branches, a golden egg rests quietly in the grass. Painted with tiny flowers, it glows against the fresh green — as if it may have appeared there overnight. And perhaps, in some stories, it truly did.
There is something special about finding an Easter egg. That brief pause before you reach for it. The quiet question of how it came to be there. For a moment, the ordinary world feels slightly different.
When I created this illustration, I found myself wondering: what would woodland and fairytale creatures think if they stumbled upon such a treasure? A fox pausing mid-step. A small gnome kneeling closer. Birds watching from low branches — unsure of what it is, yet certain it holds meaning.
A gentle choice for Easter greetings, seasonal tables, or for anyone who still treasures the simple joy of finding something hidden in the grass.
This postcard is also part of the Spring Postcards Set of 9 — a small collection filled with light, new beginnings, and the joy of spring. You can find this set here

I’m Iris Esther, an illustrator and mother of two, creating illustrated art, art prints, postcards, and small paper goods from my forest-side home studio. With a green birdhouse in the first tree outside my window, I work guided by nature, fairytales, changing seasons and by a deep love for making art by hand.
Growing up, being outside wasn’t a destination but a way of living. My art grew from that same gentle rhythm.
My illustrations are made to quietly support everyday life — bringing a sense of enchantment to family celebrations, seasonal rituals, and small moments that matter.
