Product description

Mrs. Thaw (Vrouwtje Dooi) – An Early Spring Postcard

“Mrs. Thaw,” or Vrouwtje Dooi, was created as a gentle tribute to the beloved spring figure from Olle’s Ski Trip by Elsa Beskow — an illustrator who has long inspired me.

In the story, Mrs. Thaw sweeps away the last traces of snow left behind by Jack Frost, making space for the new season to unfold. I have always loved that image: winter not ending abruptly, but being carefully brushed aside to welcome the first signs of spring.

This illustration captures that tender turning point — when the air softens, the light shifts, and you sense that something new is quietly on its way.

A lovely postcard for seasonal tables, early spring celebrations, or as a thoughtful addition to a gift. A small homage to a story that continues to mark the changing of the seasons.

MEET ME

IRIS ESTHER

I’m Iris Esther, an illustrator and mother of two, creating illustrated art, art prints, postcards, and small paper goods from my forest-side home studio. With a green birdhouse in the first tree outside my window, I work guided by nature, fairytales, changing seasons and by a deep love for making art by hand.

Growing up, being outside wasn’t a destination but a way of living. My art grew from that same gentle rhythm.

My illustrations are made to quietly support everyday life — bringing a sense of enchantment to family celebrations, seasonal rituals, and small moments that matter.
